Discovering that you or a loved one has cancer is uprooting, overwhelming, and difficult to accept, leaving you in a state of chaos and despair. Coming to the Maggie Center is hard, especially when it feels like the first steps in are accepting mortality.
The journey to healing, whether that be physical or emotional, is also a spiritual journey. The path is a similar path to that of human nature in need of salvation. As the patient enters, even from the parking lot, there is a regularity and enclosing, a comfortable hug that acknowledges the difficulty. Once in the building there is a turn that represents the need for healing and for salvation.
But there is hope; a light guides through as a beacon, beckoning to follow to the next turn where transformation can occur. This opening retreat space allows the user to take a breath before they turn to join the community, where others who need healing come together, just as God’s kingdom joins together to encourage and walk the path together.
