Date

Honeycomb Community is a center of tiny housing for the homeless community that encourages
learning how to maintain a flourishing life through the connection of community. This
development seeks to maintain the fluidity of the public park surrounding while bringing in a
constructive community. Each unit represents a piece of the honeycomb as a home is a piece of
the community. The homes have a private garden on the roof for the user to grow their own food.
This encourages responsibility and healing for the homeless to feed and care for themselves in
their own space. It also provides a feeling of responsibility and belonging as the users can share
their food with each other and contribute to the growth of the community together.
The roof is accessible by an operable skylight inside the space. The bed also folds down into a
couch and table, offering more liveable space for the user to thrive in. Following the axis of the
site, the community is built around the existing gazebo, which becomes the center for the users to
share their food with each other. The central courtyard can also become a market for the
homeless to sell their crop to the public, and learn to support themselves.
